This last week we covered what I assumed would be another exercise in aggravation-- sugar sculptures. I was surprised to find out that it was a lot more fun than I was expecting and that the end product was much cooler looking then I had hoped for. I was especially proud of myself considering I worked alone on this particular project.
I was stuck for a while trying to decide what I could do, everyone seemed to be going for an underwater theme and I kind of wanted to make something that would stand apart. On suggestion from a friend, I did a phoenix rising from burning ashes and I am very thankful for that suggestion. Once I got used to the incredibly high temperatures we have to work the sugars at, the only really hard part was blowing the sugar, but as aggravating as that was it got easier with time.
Overall, I am pretty glad everything worked out. It's one less thing to stress about when I have to deal with it in the future. I know I probably will have to.
