So one of the coolest things about working in the culinary field, for me at least, are the banquet and catering events. Although they are really fun and a great experience when they take place on home turf, I love offsite events. For instance, last week at work (Southwestern Dining Services) we had a catering event on Sunset Beach. Who wouldn't love to get paid to go hang out at the beach? We set up a buffet table with salads, ribs, baked beans and grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. I really felt like I was camping for a few hours. Although the kitchen is a fun fast paced environment, sometimes doing a fun event like the one at the beach is a nice change of pace for a little while. The best part about all of it is that I get to do the same thing this week so I am really looking forward to that.
