Peanut Butter and Pickle?

Peanut butter and pickle sandwich anyone?  I know...I know...seems kind of gross.  The thing is, a well made peanut butter and pickle sandwich can scratch an itch you didn't even know you had.  It is just one of those foods that makes you say "that hit the spot", even if it seems abnormal to say because of what it is.  If you have had an experience with a peanut butter and pickle sandwich that wasn't pleasant, maybe you just havn't experienced it the right way.....

It all begins with the bread.  Personally, I'm cool with either wheat or white, just not whole grain, it makes things kind of funky.  Once you have decided the verdict as far as bread is concerned, then comes peanut butter.  It seems to me that the majority of people are creamy peanut butter fans, but I'm kind of a texture junkie, so I am all about the crunchy.  Whichever kind is right for you, spread a layer on BOTH pieces of bread for maximum peanut butter satisfaction.  Last but not least, is the pickle.  It is vital that the pickle of choice be whole dill.  When you buy pre-cut pickles, they are cut to thin for a peanut butter and pickle sandwich, they just seem mushy and that is NOT what we want here.  Cut enough pickles1/4 inch thick lengthwise to cover one piece of bread.  Place slices of bread together and enjoy one of the best things ever.
