Oregon Coast Invitational

The Oregon Coast Culinary Institute is planning the 7th annual Oregon Coast Invitational also known as the Nicholas Harrison Memorial Competition for High School students. This year the event is scheduled on April 13th, 2013. We are accommodating twelve teams and new this year; individual competitors may compete in a seperate competition, we expect all slots to be filled and have a waiting list.  

The format will remain the same for teams as in previous years. The teams consist of four students. They must prepare three plates of three courses and will have one hour to cook and a 15 minute plating window. The starter course can be an appetizer, soup or salad. The entrée must feature seafood as the protein and the dessert is up to the teams to decide.

The format for individual competitors is: You must prepare three portions of a seafood entrée with appropriate starch, vegetable and sauce. Each competitor will have 60 minutes to cook their entrée along with a five minute plating window. Each competitor will have two burners and a convection oven available for use.

The entry fee is $50 per team and $10 per individual competitor. Once the entry fee is submitted and received by OCCI, you will have your position secured.

At the awards ceremony scholarships to attend OCCI will be awarded to all members of the teams: 1st ($4,000), 2nd ($3,000) and 3rd ($2,000) places. For the individuals: 1st ($2,000) 2nd ($1,500) and 3rd ($1,000) scholarships to attend OCCI.

We will give Cash prizes to the teams in the amount of $500 (1st), $400 (2nd) and $300 (3rd) for the high schools to purchase equipment for their culinary arts program.
