COOS BAY, OR – The Oregon Coast Culinary Institute (OCCI) at Southwestern Oregon Community College will be hosting “Cooking up a Storm” which is now known as Oregon Coast Culinary Camp. This summer, a culinary camp for 16-years-and-older high school students who are interested in exploring the culinary and hospitality industry will gather for a  five-day intensive cooking program will provide participants opportunities to learn alongside the Institute’s award-winning chef instructors.

The program is designed to expose students to basic cooking skills, but most importantly, provide a learning environment that will assist students in making an informed decision about attending culinary school.  Students will learn about sanitation, knife skills, introductory baking and how to prepare a basic meal.  They will also tour the college campus and have the opportunity to interact with current culinary students.

This year we are offering two different dates: The first program will take place, June 16th-22nd, 2012. The second program will take place August 19th-24th, 2012. The application deadline is June 1st and enrollment is limited to 20 students.  Students will be chosen on a first come first serve basis, this means the first 20 students to send in their application and payment will get the 20 spots. We expect these sports to be filled with a waiting list. Registration is $650 per student and includes a full week of cooking camp, meals, housing, and a uniform. Please send application and payment to the information located below.
