The Oregon Coast Culinary Institute is planning the Oregon Coast Invitational for High School students. This year the event is scheduled on April 11, 2009. We are accommodating twelve teams and expect all slots to be filled, and to have a waiting list.
The format will remain the same as in previous years. The teams consist of four students. They must prepare three plates of three courses and will have one hour to complete the competition. The starter course can be an appetizer, soup or salad. The entrée must feature seafood as the protein and the dessert is up to the teams to decide.
We will have limited on campus housing available for Friday night and we provide three meals over the course of the competition. The cost is $50 per person.
The entry fee is $50 per team. Once the entry fee is submitted and received by OCCI, you will have your position secured.
At the awards ceremony scholarships to attend OCCI will be awarded to all members of the teams: 1st (2,000), 2nd (1,500) and 3rd (1,000) places. Cash prizes of $500 (1st), $400 (2nd) and $300 (3rd) will be given to high schools to purchase equipment for culinary arts.
