
COOS BAY, OR – The Oregon Coast Culinary Institute (OCCI) at Southwestern Oregon Community College will be hosting The Oregon Coast Culinary Camp. This summer, a culinary camp for 16-years-and-older high school students who are interested in exploring the culinary and hospitality industry will gather for a five-day intensive cooking program that provides opportunities to learn alongside the Institute’s award-winning chef instructors.
The program is designed to expose students to basic cooking skills, but most importantly, provide a learning environment that will assist students in making an informed decision about attending culinary school. Students will learn about sanitation, knife skills, introductory baking and how to prepare a basic meal.
The program will take place, June 18th-23rd, 2013 You will arrive on Tuesday the 18th at 5:00pm. And you will depart in the afternoon on Sunday June 23rd, 2013. The application deadline is June 14th. Enrollment is limited to 20 students. Students will be chosen on a first come first serve basis, this means the first 20 students to send in their application and payment will get the 20 spots. We expect these sports to be filled with a waiting list. Registration is $650 per student and includes a full week of cooking camp, meals, housing, and a uniform. OCCI is going to offer one spot at the Oregon Coast Culinary Camp for free, to one lucky student. The requirement is you must write a 300 word essay about: “How Oregon Coast Culinary Camp will benefit me.” The deadline is June 3rd, 2013 and the winner will be notified on June 7th 2012. But remember to hold your spot you must have your application and payment sent in and have received a confirmation from OCCI. Please send in your essay to:
