OCCI alters format of Chef’s Table for a week

Oregon Coast Culinary Institute at Southwestern Oregon Community College is planning a special format for its weekly Chef’s Table luncheon on July 27.

Students are preparing a show platter that day that will include various pates, terrines, galantines and various garnishes to accompany them, along with salads. In addition, students will be serving soups, fresh breads and a dessert. Tables will be decorated with watermelon carvings and butter sculptures. The special price for the event, scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. on July 27, is $10. Reservations are required.

The Chef’s Table is a limited reservation venture scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. every Friday at OCCI, located on the Southwestern campus at 1988 Newmark Ave. in Coos Bay. A variety of multi-course high-end meals will be served, with a different menu every week. The usual cost for lunch is $20 per plate, and all proceeds go to benefit OCCI’s programs and student activities. Reservations are required.

To view weekly menus or to make reservations, those interested can go online to http://www.occi.net/programs/chefstable.shtml, or call Elisa at 888-1540.
