Baking and Pastry students seek volunteers for project

Baking and Pastry Arts Program students at the Southwestern Oregon Community College Oregon Coast Culinary Institute are seeking community volunteers to critique their final projects.

From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Aug. 13 and 14, students will be completing a final class project that includes creating and carrying out the concept for dessert restaurants. Students will conceptualize the menus and other aspects of their restaurants, then take orders and serve their desserts to volunteer diners who will critique.

There is no cost to participate, though donations gladly would be accepted to cover food costs. There is a need for about 90 volunteers to participate. To request a time slot, those interested can e-mail OCCI Baking and Pastry Arts Program Director Kevin Shaw at kshaw@socc.edu.
